When it comes to content ideation, often times content creators sit in rooms and brainstorm, asking each other the following questions: What kind of post will support our product or service? How can we leverage our existing knowledge base to create content?
But instead of this approach, these creators should be closely examining the content their customers already enjoy reading. To focus on this customer engagement, Renee Yeager suggest several methods, such as ignoring the “hot” topic.
When deciding which marketing tactics to pursue, do a gut check. Is this something your customers have actually asked for? Do you have any substantive reason to believe one particular tactic will be irresistible to them or address their burning questions? If not, buck the trends. Go with what you know readers will want.”
