Leveraging Content Marketing to Improve your SEO Results

As reported by Search Engine Land, Ascend2 recently completed a survey of almost 600 business and marketing professionals about their companies’ SEO success.  Overall, some very interesting findings. Here’s my take on just a few of the findings:

  1. Social media should be part of your SEO strategy:  ”38% of those “very successful” with SEO are doing extensive integration of social media, compared to only two percent of the companies that aren’t succeeding with SEO.”  Unfortunately, this integration process requires a lot of hard, tedious work; however, the good news is that this investment will help differentiate your organization.
  2. Content marketing can have a significant impact on the success of your SEO strategy.  ”48% of all respondents said “creating original content” is the most effective SEO tactic — the top answer.”  However, 48% of respondents also indicated that they struggle with a lack of budget and/or headcount.  The follow-up to this study should be a deeper analysis of how to be more effective in content marketing. (e.g., better leveraging content curation, improving the efficiency of your content creation process, etc.)
