Marketers Need to Act Like Journalists - Or Better Yet, Hire One
In a recent blog post, Ed Oldfield provides interesting commentary about a lecture he attended by a Hootsuite marketing executive. As part of his review of this lecture, he puts in practice one of the most important parts of content curation - adding value to the curated information. More specifically, Ed offers some interesting commentary on the value that journalists can bring to a content marketing team:
Journalists bring the ability to break stories fast and add updates as developments emerge. Being among the first to break relevant stories is crucial to building audience and reputation.“
As a marketing executive I completely agree with Ed’s recommendation for journalists to seek out careers in content marketing as more and more companies strive to be their own publishers.
