The Roots of Content Curation

Ron Van Puersem puts in a lot of effort to trace the history of content curation and when the term first appeared online.  He traces the earliest concept of it to Jakob Nielsen in 2003 when he wrote:

The easier it is to find places with good information, the less time users will spend visiting any individual website…People like to get maximum benefit for minimum effort . That’s what makes information foraging a useful tool for analyzing online media.

It’s a fascinating read for any curation fans about a term that seems to be everywhere these days.
