You May Be Telling Stories, But Does Anyone Care?
Storytelling has become quite the buzzword in content marketing. Every blog post we read, every conference we attend, experts are telling us to craft stories our readers will enjoy. So we set out to tell stories — lots and lots of stories. But, one question remains. . . what if we’re doing it wrong?
This is what John Rugh asks his readers, saying that if storytelling is done wrong, “your audience can quickly become bored and lose faith in your brand.” Rugh provides several ways to ensure you are telling the right story. One of these ways is to ask: Can we sell without selling?
Understand this about effective storytelling: It “sells without selling”. As your reader becomes emotionally involved in your story, he often starts to convince himself of your product and company efficacy. Consistently offer compelling stories and your audience will bond with you emotionally. This attachment will lead to more first time sales, more repeat sales and a higher lifetime customer value.
