"I get around the duplicate content issue by rewriting or summarizing. It's certainly a challenge to come up with a thoughtful comment on something but to do so in a few different ways. My background as a reporter has been helpful in that respect.

In regard to myth #3 about splitting content over multiple domains, there are different views on this. It really depends on what your online marketing strategy is. Ideally you would get all the incoming links coming to your company site. I think it's possible to be viewed as credible in your industry while curating content on your business's site.

That's not to say there aren't legitimate reasons for hosting a curated content site on a separate domain. If you plan to include any competitor content, this could be one reason, but I think you could still do so on your business site, written properly.

If you're not much into writing original content, then content curating might just be the way to go."

"The technical definition of curate (from my Canadian Oxford Dictionary): select, organize, and present items for (an exhibition, film festival, etc).

Apple's a business so they obviously are going to curate content that is most beneficial to them.

I have to disagree with you about curation, policies and censorship though. In determining what content you're going to present, you have to censor and operate with some sort of policy. You are also making value judgements in terms of what you're presenting to your audience.

It's not a bad thing. Your audience expects you to weed through the garbage (censor) and present them with that they might find useful. Curation doesn't necessarily mean finding "the best." Who's to say what the best really is anyway? It's a matter of opinion.

I caught your webinar with the AMA a little bit ago. Glad I did."
